Copilot leans on Bing

Microsoft Copilot is grounded largely in the Bing index, so Bing crawlability and indexation matter more here than anywhere else. If Bingbot cannot reach you, Copilot will not name you.

Reading the result honestly

Assistant answers vary between runs and sessions. One absence is noise; the same absence over several weeks is signal.
Being named in prose and being citedas a linked source are different outcomes. Track them separately.
Model updates move these numbers independently of anything you ship. Record the date of every run.
